DIRECTOR OF MATENADARAN PRESENTED CURRENT AND VISIONARY PROGRAMS TO NAASR

On September 10, 2024, a delegation from Matenadaran visited the USA and met with the board of trustees and the heads of the executive body of NAASR (National Association for Armenian Studies and Research) as part of a business visit.

Mark Mamikonian, scientific director of the centre, welcomed the delegation and showcased Armenian manuscripts kept in the centre to the attendees.

Director Ara Khzmalyan presented the reforms in Matenadaran, highlighting the importance of the International Congress of Armenian Studies in the international repositioning, and expressed gratitude to NAASR for the grants provided to Matenadaran researchers.

A film about the International Congress of Armenian Studies was shown, and a discussion was held after the presentation. The director stressed the role of the Diaspora in Matenadaran’s collecting efforts.

“Collecting Manuscripts has always been a top goal, and the past year has been successful in that regard, as seen by the recently launched exhibition named “1 Year’s Eternity.” The last addition to the collection was from the United States, and the main expectation of the directorate is to participate in the repatriation of manuscripts,” said Ara Khzmalyan.
