IN THE CALENDAR OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, FEBRUARY 27 IS THE REMEMBRANCE DAY OF ST. GREGORY OF NAREK, DOCTOR OF THE UNIVERSAL CHURCH

By the decision of Pope Francis, the Vatican Congregation for Divine Worship has declared February 27 in the calendar of the Catholic Church the remembrance day of the great Armenian theologian of the 10th century, Doctor of the Universal Church St. Gregory of Narek. Thus, that day will be included in all Catholic churches’ calendar, in the books of liturgy and worship, and a memorial service will be held.
Let us recall that on February 23, 2015, Pope Francis awarded St. Gregory of Narek the highest title of Doctor of the Universal Church – Doctor Ecclesiae Universalis. In the same year, a bronze statue of Gregory of Narek by David Yerevantsi was erected in the Vatican Gardens.
