“THIS DAT WAS CRUCIAL” H.E. MR. MASANORI FUKUSHIMA AMBASSADOR EXTRAORDINARY AND PLENIPOTENTIARY OF JAPAN TO THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA

On August 29, Mr. Ara Khzmalyan, Director of the Matenadaran, hosted Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Armenia, H. E. Mr. Masanori Fukushima. The Ambassador visited the newly opened exhibition, titled Europe-Armenia. the Meeting Point is Art, and got acquainted with the works of the Digitization and Restoration departments. A special tour of the archival repository had been organized and archival samples related to Japanese culture were presented to the Ambassador. The specialists of the Restoration Department particularly discussed the Japanese equipment and materials used in the restoration of manuscripts. Possible prospects of cooperation with Japanese specialized organizations and experts in the field of restoration were also discussed at the meeting. The Ambassador expressed his willingness to comprehensively support the expansion of collaboration. Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, H.E. Mr. Masanori Fukushima summarized his remarks in Armenian: “This day was crucial.”
