MESROP MASHTOTS MATENADARAN RECENTLY HOSTED A TWO-DAY INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE TITLED “POETRY OF IMAGE” TO CELEBRATE THE 130TH ANNIVERSARY OF IRANIAN-ARMENIAN ARTIST ANDRE SEVRUGIAN

The conference included over a dozen thematic reports that focused on the historical and literary relations between the two countries, highlighting their past cultural dialogues and commonalities. Speakers from various institutions, including Matenadaran, Farhangian University of Iran, Imam Khomeini International University of Iran, University of Tehran, Pázmány Péter Catholic University of Hungary, and Suzhou University of China, presented valuable reports on topics such as “Rostam Zāl” from “Shahnameh” to “Sasna Tsrer”: The Battle of Father and Son, “Legends about Armenians in Persian Poems from the 6th Century”, “Exploring the Representation of Women in 20th-Century Iranian Armenian Painting”, “The Position of Andre Sevrugian as an Innovative Painter in Iranian Painting”, and “Categorization of Matanadaran’s Calligraphy Artworks”.

Conference participants also had the opportunity to tour the Matenadaran Museum, where they learned about Armenian and foreign language manuscripts, as well as permanent and temporary exhibitions.
