Mr. Valdis Dombrovskis, the European Commission Executive Vice-President and EU Trade Commissioner, visited Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran during his official visit to Armenia, accompanied by the Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary: H.E. Mr. Vassilis Maragos.
Accompanied by Director Ara Khzmalyan, the guests toured the museum halls, viewed new exhibitions, and examined Armenian and foreign language manuscripts. They also visited the depository of Archives and the Restoration Department.
During the visit, the director highlighted Matenadaran’s potential to become an international centre for written heritage restoration. He emphasized the role of the upcoming international seminar “Faces of Memory” in achieving this goal.
Ambassador Vasilis Maragos expressed his willingness to cooperate, and Valdis Dombrovskis expressed his enjoyment of the visit and praised the Matenadaran’s mission.
