NEW STRATEGIC INFRASTRUCTURE AT MATENADARAN

On May 22, 2025, the Armenian Restoration Paper Workshop was inaugurated at Matenadaran. This new facility will produce the paper needed for restoring written heritage, allowing the institution to rely less on the international market and creating opportunities for entrepreneurial activities.

The workshop establishment is part of a development program initiated by the Director of Matenadaran, reflecting his commitment to professional responsibility for manuscript preservation worldwide.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, and the Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Vassilis Maragos, along with Mher Ananyan, the Director of Araratbank, who is a major benefactor of Matenadaran. During the event, certificates of appreciation for the first samples of Armenian restoration paper were presented to Jeanmarie Papelian, Executive Director of the Armenia Tree Project Charitable Foundation; Marine Karoyan, the Armenian Coordinator of the EU4CULTURE Program; and Gevorg Poghosyan, Executive Director of the Impact Hub Armenia Social Innovation Development Foundation.
