
From November 4 to 8, 2025, Matenadaran Director Ara Khzmalyan held meetings with the heads of scriptoria dedicated to the collection of Armenian manuscripts. During this visit, he toured the Mekhitarist Congregation in Vienna and the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Austria.
In his meeting with the monks at the Congregation, Director Khzmalyan discussed potential areas for cooperation with Matenadaran as well as other spiritual and manuscript centres. He emphasised the significance of comprehensive collaboration and expressed a willingness to utilise all available opportunities, particularly in preserving the written heritage of the Congregation. The Director also extended his gratitude to the monks for their support and readiness to assist Matenadaran’s researchers.
During the visit, Andranik Hovhannisyan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Austria, was briefed on the reforms and priority programs currently being implemented at Matenadaran An agreement was reached to continuously enhance the Mekhitarist Congregation’s library with academic publications from Matenadaran through joint efforts. Additionally, they agreed to initiate programs aimed at promoting the findings of Armenological studies in Austria.
