VAHE TOROSYAN, THE DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF SCIENTIFIC AFFAIRS AT MATENADARAN, VISITED JAGIELLONIAN UNIVERSITY IN KRAKOW, WHERE HE MET WITH PROFESSOR PAVEL LAIDLE, THE VICE-RECTOR FOR EDUCATION

On December 11, 2025, the meeting also included Hrachya Boyajyan, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Poland; Professor Stanislav Sroka, the Dean of the Faculty of History; Professor Krzysztof Stopka, the Director of the University Museum; Professor Pavel Miezhva; and Tomasz Krzyzowski, a researcher at the Institute of History.

During the meeting, the importance of establishing cooperation between Matenadaran and Jagiellonian University was strongly emphasised. They discussed the implementation of joint programs aimed at studying and popularising the rich literary heritage of Polish-Armenians. Vahe Torosyan commended the initiatives that promote Armenological studies at the university, particularly highlighting the recent opening of the Centre for Armenological Studies, named after Sadok Baronch, at the Institute of History on December 3 of this year. He invited the Centre’s Armenologists to participate in the upcoming International Congress of Armenology.

Vahe Torosyan and Hrachya Boyajyan toured the Institute of History, the museum, and the library of Jagiellonian University, familiarising themselves with the ongoing research, exhibitions, and library collections.

As part of his visit, Vahe Torosyan attended the second conference of Armenian studies centres operating in foreign universities on December 12-13 at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. This conference was supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia and initiated by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Poland. During the event, he presented a report titled “Internationalisation of Armenian Studies and Matenadaran.”
