From February 17 to 20, 2026, Matenadaran Director Ara Khzmalyan, Deputy Director for Science Vahe Torosyan, and Deputy Director for Development Tatevik Muradyan visited Almaty, Kazakhstan, upon the invitation of Kazakh National University Rector Zhanseit Tuymebayev.
A familiarisation visit to various university departments was organised for the Armenian delegation, along with a special exhibition of books by Armenian authors held within the university library.
A meeting was convened with the university’s management staff, after which the Rector of the university and the Director of Matenadaran signed a memorandum of cooperation.
The memorandum provides for the joint study of written heritage, notably Kypchak manuscripts in Armenian script, collaboration in publishing programmes, professional exchanges, and other related activities.
Together with the university faculty and students, the Deputy Directors of Matenadaran delivered speeches presenting the institution’s scientific activities and developmental programmes.
In his welcoming address, the Director of the Matenadaran emphasised that the recent high-level Armenian-Kazakh interstate relations — encompassing political, economic, and scientific-educational spheres, which have attained unprecedented levels of activity — must be nurtured and strengthened through joint initiatives of the scientific and creative intelligentsia.
Ara Khzmalyan donated books published by Matenadaran to the National Library of Kazakhstan.
