A DELEGATION FROM MATENADARAN VISITED THE BOOK RESTORATION LABORATORY OF THE ABBEY OF PRAGLIA (LABORATORIO DI RESTAURO DEL LIBRO DELL’ABBAZIA DI PRAGLIA)

During this visit, the laboratory’s activities, methodologies for restoring books and manuscripts, and the foundational principles guiding its operations were presented.

Artavazd Ayvazyan and Artur Petrosyan, senior restorers at Matenadaran, engaged in comprehensive discussions with their Italian colleagues concerning professional matters of mutual interest. They also provided an overview of the reforms implemented at Matenadaran in recent years, along with the institution’s extensive experience in the preservation and restoration of written heritage.

During the course of the visit, Mr Ara Khzmalyan, Director of Matenadaran, formally extended an invitation to the laboratory’s specialists to participate in the annual international seminar titled “Faces of Memory,” hosted at Matenadaran.

This visit holds significant importance within the framework of the ongoing efforts to monitor and restore the manuscript heritage of the Mekhitarist Congregation of Venice. It fosters the exchange of professional expertise and enhances international cooperation.
