AS PART OF THE “ARMENIAN CULTURAL DAYS” EVENTS, YVETTE TAJARIAN, HEAD OF MATENADARAN’S MUSEUM, TRAVELLED TO GERMANY

From October 15 to 25, as part of the “Armenian Cultural Days” events, Yvette Tajarian, Head of Matenadaran’s Museum, travelled to Germany at the invitation of the Armenian community of Baden-Württemberg and the Sevrugian Foundation. She is also a member of the Foundation’s Executive Board.

An exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of André Sevrugian’s death was organised under her curatorship. The opening ceremony featured speeches by officials, including Muhterem Aras, President of the Landtag of Baden-Württemberg; Father Tiratur, the community’s priest; Stephan Schorn, Chairman of the LBBW Foundation; Michael Strauss, Chairman of the Noah Foundation; and others.

Tajarian also delivered two lectures presenting the history and legacy of the Sevrugian family, as well as Matenadaran’s manuscript collection.

It is worth recalling that in 2005, thanks to Yvette Tajarian’s direct efforts and mediation, André Sevrugian’s son, Emanuel Sevrugian, donated to Matenadaran more than one hundred works of art by his father and grandfather, the photographer Antoine Sevruguin.

Yvette Tajarian’s visit to Germany was supported by the National Association for Armenian Studies and Research (NAASR), Matenadaran, and the Sevrugian Foundation.
