CONFERENCE WITH HEADLINE “REVIVED CULTURAL HERITAGE” DEDICATED TO THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

On April 28-29, 2015 at the Matenadaran after Mesrop Mashtots took place the conference with headline “Revived Cultural Heritage” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide by initiative of “Union of Young Researchers of the Matenadaran” NGO and by assistance of partner organization (Youth Foundation of Armenia) of the President of the Republic of Armenia (See the conference program). The conference kicked off with opening speech by Director of Matenadaran Hrachya Tamrazyan, who, turning to the participants, mentioned, “100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide compels us to reinterpret our culture’s process, live history, which is the cornerstone in the base of our philosophy of life. This centennial anniversary compels us to reinterpret our work and direct it.”
  During the two days of the conference were presented reports in which was special accentuation about wastages of Armenian manuscript culture as a result of Genocide, were presented the new life of survived manuscripts, episodes and facts about crime that took place 100 years ago.
  In addition to the Matenadaran’s young research fellows, the conference was also attended by the young research fellows from the UNESCO Chair of Armenian Art History and Theory of the faculty of history of the Department of Yerevan State University and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, as well as in the theme frameworks the student Heitor Loureiro from the State University of Sao Paulo read topic “The Armenian Genocide in the articles of Armenian intellectuals living in Brazil.”
