THE HAMAZKAYIN SOCIETY DONATED TO THE MATENADARAN A VALUABLE COLLECTION OF MANUSCRIPTS OF XIV-XX CENTURIES

Manuscript donation ceremony took place on May 17 at 12:00 in the conference hall of the Matenadaran named after Mesrop Mashtots. The Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society donated 27 valuable manuscripts of XIV-XX centuries to the Matenadaran (Ritual Books, Collections, Haysmavurk, Psalms, Treasury, Gospel, etc.).
  The donation ceremony took place within the framework of the 90th anniversary of Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society.
 Director of Matenadaran Vahan Ter-Ghevondyan delivered an opening speech. The Matenadaran Director mentioned that Matenadaran had not received such a great donation of valuable manuscripts over the last 15 years. The director of the Matenadaran mentioned that repatriation of valuable manuscripts is a significant event.
  Gevorg Ter-Vardanyan, the main depositary of the Matenadaran, Doctor of Historical Sciences, gave general and summary information to the participants about the collection of manuscripts.
  Representative of the Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society Viken Tufenkjian delivered a speech. Viken Tufenkjian mentioned that now the manuscripts are in the right and the safest place. The Director of Matenadaran Vahan Ter-Ghevondyan passed the Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society a letter of gratitude and the gigantic imitation of silver cover manuscript “Book of Lamentations” of Gigor Narekatsi written in Cilicia, in 1173.
