A memorandum of cooperation has recently been signed between Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran and the University of Hamburg. On the initiative of Michael Friedrich, the director of the Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures at the University of Hamburg, and Vahan Ter-Ghevondian, the director of Matenadaran, a direct and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in the preservation and study of manuscript heritage will be boosted.
The cooperation stipulated in the memorandum envisages training of highly qualified specialists in the fields of manuscript studies, manuscript preservation, restoration, cataloguing, and digitization, as well as an exchange of research experience, implementation of joint programs and bilateral visits of specialists and researchers.
