PARTICIPATION OF THE EMPLOYEES OF THE RESTORATION DEPARTMENT OF MASHTOTS MATENADARAN IN THE 5TH INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH-PRACTICAL SEMINAR OF RESTORERS

From April 5 to 9, 2021, the Russian State Library hosted the 5th International Research-Practical Seminar of Restorers entitled “Document Restoration: Conservatism and Innovation”, which is the largest and most authoritative platform for the exchange of experience of specialists in this field. The seminar aimed to train restorers, curators of library and museum collections, to discuss restoration innovations and participate in masterclasses.
The training involved well-known experts who shared their experience with specialists. The seminar in 2021 was attended by 375 specialists from 191 organizations around the world.
The employees of the Restoration Department of Mashtots Matenadaran Susanna Barseghyan, Taguhi Chenterechyan and Arthur Petrosyan with the head of the department Gayane Eliazyan took part in the event. A plenary report on “Armenian Bookbinding: Structure, Features and Restoration Mistakes” was presented. Our employees gave 6 masterclasses.
The results of the 5th International Seminar are summarized in a collection where articles by Gayane Eliazyan, Arthur Petrosyan, Emma Sargisova and Lilit Bachachyan are published. The delegation of Matenadaran also visited the restoration departments of the Grabar Institute, the Tretyakov Gallery and the Rudomino Library for Foreign Literature, where the prospects for the future collaboration were fixed.
