Businessman and philanthropist Vahe Badalyan donated to Matenadaran a device for scanning the covers of manuscripts in a three-dimensional format, thanks to which the possibility of studying the bindings of manuscripts, determining their features, as well as identifying potential injuries will significantly increase.
The scanning results will help develop the business activities of Matenadaran.
The use of the latest device is unprecedented not only in the field of studying the manuscripts of Matenadaran but also will provide a wide opportunity for scanning and studying museum objects.
The Director of Matenadaran, Ara Khzmalyan, expressed gratitude to the benefactor and congratulated his colleagues. He stressed the ongoing increase in collaboration between Matenadaran and the private sector.
At the presentation, the head of the Department of Archives and Archival Studies of Matenadaran, Armen Malkhasyan, referred to the history of the creation of manuscripts binding.
