The Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran delegation, headed by director Ara Khzmalyan, has meetings with various Lebanese Armenian spiritual centres, Armenian studies institutions, heads of non-governmental organizations and representatives of the Armenian community.
Today, the group met with His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia, who welcomed them and expressed his willingness to deepen the cooperation of the Catholicosate with Matenadaran.
During the meeting Ara Khzmalyan presented the upcoming programs of Matenadaran related to the preservation and restoration of the worldwide Armenian written heritage and the development of Armenian studies, which were approved by the Patriarch. Aram I acknowledged the unique role of Matenadaran in promoting pan-Armenian unity.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Lebanon Vahagn Atabekyan was present at the meeting.
