Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran, in collaboration with the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia and in partnership with the “Kaits” Foundation, is organizing an international conference dedicated to Mkhitar Gosh and his work, “Lawcode” (Datastanagirk). This conference is scheduled for October 2025 and will address topics related to the history of medieval jurisprudence in connection with contemporary legal issues. The conference is part of a broader initiative to internationalize Gosh’s legacy, including the reprinting and exclusive exhibition of the English translation of “Lawcode”. It is essential to note that on April 10, 2025, during the 221st session of the UNESCO Executive Board, Gosh’s “Lawcode” was unanimously added to the International Memory of the World Register by member states. The upcoming conference serves as a practical response to this significant recognition.
A joint meeting to discuss the organizational details of the conference was held today at Matenadaran. The meeting included participation from the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan; the Director of Matenadaran, Ara Khzmalyan; and representatives from the “Kaits” Charitable Foundation.
