The second issue of the journal “Orient,” published in 2024, is entirely dedicated to Armenology and is titled “Armenians in the Orient.” This issue is the result of a collaboration between Professor Tomoko Morikawa, an Orientalist at the University of Tokyo, and the Department of Oriental Studies at Matenadaran.
The journal features articles from several employees of the Department of Oriental Studies at Matenadaran, Elina Ghazaryan, Anahit Tovmasyan, Yvette Tajarian, and her postgraduate student, Greta Gasparyan, as well as Japanese Armenologists Nobutaka Nakamachi, Hisashi Yaku, Shinya Shionozaki, and Tomoko Morikawa, who have contributed articles that explore various aspects of Armenian history.
The issue features a preface written by Tomoko Morikawa, who oversees the editing and review of the articles, alongside Kristine Kostikyan, the Head of the Department of Oriental Studies at Matenadaran. In their preface, they briefly highlight recent achievements and the main directions of development in Armenian studies.
