Restorers from 18 different countries, along with representatives from Armenian spiritual and manuscript centres, are participating in the seminar. Many cultural and scientific institutions from Armenia are also in attendance.
The seminar is supported by the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, the EU Delegation to Armenia, and AraratBank.
In her opening speech, Minister Zhanna Andreasyan emphasised the Matenadaran’s vital role in preserving written heritage, particularly in regions where conflict poses additional risks and challenges.
At the opening ceremony, Director Ara Khzmalyan presented the “Benefactor of Matenadaran” gold medal to Mher Ananyan, the Director of AraratBank. Additionally, the bank’s name has been inscribed on the Matenadaran’s Honorary Arch.
It is worth noting that, with the support of AraratBank, a laboratory for the biochemical research of manuscripts was established in 2024, and the video surveillance and security systems were upgraded in 2025. The bank has also been actively supporting the implementation of “The Faces of Memory” international seminar for the past two years.
The “The Faces of Memory” International Seminar will continue until October 17.
