A GARDEN TO BE ESTABLISHED NEXT TO MATENADARAN: MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION AND AGREEMENT SIGNED WITH IDBANK

Alongside the modernization of Matenadaran’s infrastructure, efforts to improve and develop the surrounding grounds are continuing. A garden is planned for an approximately 1.2-hectare area adjacent to Matenadaran. It will serve as a natural extension of the museum environment, bringing together cultural heritage preservation, environmental protection, and education.

IDBank has joined the project initiated jointly with the Armenia Tree Project Foundation as part of its initiatives marking its 35th anniversary. Matenadaran and IDBank have signed a memorandum of cooperation and an agreement, launching practical work on the park’s creation. The Bank’s support represents the first significant financial contribution to the project.

Commenting on the significance of the initiative, Matenadaran Director Ara Khzmalyan stated: “This is another expression of our shared responsibility towards Matenadaran. Establishing the park is more than a landscaping initiative; it is a statement of our civilizational aspirations. Every aspect of Matenadaran’s work, including the planning and improvement of its surroundings, must reflect the significance and high standards of our manuscript treasury.”

Before the signing ceremony, the guests took a guided tour of Matenadaran, exploring exceptional examples of Armenian manuscript heritage and learning about the institution’s main areas of activity.

In recognition of its commitment to supporting Matenadaran’s development and the preservation of cultural heritage, IDBank’s name was added to Matenadaran’s “Arch of Honour.” The Bank, represented by Chairman of the Board Mher Abrahamyan, was awarded the “Benefactor of Matenadaran” Gold Medal.

The initiative is another example of cooperation between the private and civil society sectors in support of Matenadaran’s development, with the aim of creating a new public space that harmoniously brings together culture and nature.
