MATENADARAN IS WELCOMING HIGH-LEVEL GUESTS OF COP17

A delegation led by Ignazio Cassis, Vice-President of the Swiss Confederation, Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, who arrived in Armenia in connection with COP17, visited Matenadaran.

Accompanied by Kristine Tataryan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, and Hasmik Tolmajyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis viewed exceptional examples of Armenian manuscript heritage on display at Matenadaran’s museum. He also visited the Restoration Department, the biochemical research laboratories, and the laboratory for restoration and study of Arabic-script manuscripts.

At the conclusion of the visit, Ignazio Cassis made an entry in Matenadaran’s guestbook.

“Today, I discovered this collection with immense pleasure and profound gratitude, to which all humanity owes so much,” the distinguished guest wrote.
