A LECTURE AT THE DEPARTMENT OF ARMENIAN STUDIES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF GENEVA

Senior Researcher at the Matenadaran, Dr. Habil. Arsen Harutyunyan delivered a lecture on October 20 of 2026 at the Department of Armenian Studies of the University of Geneva, within the framework of the project “Armenian Ladies Through Medieval Texts and Images” (25RG-6E029), implemented with a grant from the Science Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

The lecture, entitled “From Medieval Patronage of the Armenian Noblewomen to Epigraphic Inscription,” sheds light, on the basis of epigraphic primary sources, on the construction and donation activities of Armenian ladies during the early and developed stages of the Middle Ages (5th-14th centuries), also highlighting the tradition of creating epigraphic inscriptions on the occasion of patronage in the Armenian Highlands.

The lecture was chaired and introduced by Professor Valentina Calzolari, the project’s foreign partner.

The lecture was followed by a discussion, and proposals were made for future cooperation.
