GHUKAS CHUBARYAN – 100

On October 18, 2023, with an exclusive exhibition, Mashtots Matenadaran will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Armenian national artist and sculptor Ghukas Chubaryan.
Thirty sculptures from the National Gallery of Armenia and the Chubaryan family’s collections will be exhibited.
Ghukas Chubaryan, a renowned Armenian artist and sculptor, was born in 1923 to the family of a famous lawyer and social-political figure, Grigor Chubaryan. Chubaryan received his education at the Terlemezyan Fine Arts School and later at the Fine Arts Theater Institute. Throughout his career, he created numerous busts, statues, and monumental monuments, showcasing his exceptional skills in sculpting.
Chubaryan authored the “Mesrop Mashtots and Koryun” and “Mkhitar Gosh” statues, which have become symbols of Matenadaran.
Ghukas Chubaryan’s works are exhibited in the National Gallery of Armenia, the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, and several private collections.
