On May 6, 2025, the Yerevan Brandy Factory presented individual oak planks crafted by the factory’s coopers to the Mesrop Mashtots Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts. These planks are essential for producing new bindings for ancient manuscripts. With this joint initiative, the Yerevan Brandy Factory is committed to supporting the restoration of ancient manuscripts in this format moving forward.
The oak planks used are sourced from ARARAT barrel planks, which have been specially processed according to the guidelines provided by the restorers at Matenadaran.
Accompanied by the director of Matenadaran, Sergey Khachatryan, the Executive Director of the Yerevan Brandy Factory, and Zaruhi Saribekyan, the Head of Public Relations, were shown the infrastructure and scientific and technical divisions dedicated to the restoration of Matenadaran. Ara Khzmalyan welcomed his colleagues and emphasized, “Preserving our written heritage is a responsibility that belongs to all Armenians. The work of Matenadaran not only aims to restore the written values of all cultural institutions in Armenia but also to recover manuscript collections that are scattered worldwide. Additionally, Matenadaran is committed to strengthening its role in restoring international written heritage year after year. Therefore, alongside state support, we greatly value the participation of private individuals and organizations in this important mission.”
“We are honoured to collaborate with Matenadaran, a repository of ancient manuscripts that can truly be considered the collective birth certificate of every Armenian. We are pleased that our ongoing communication with partners continually uncovers new avenues for cooperation. This partnership carries a beautiful allegorical significance. ARARAT is inherently tied to heritage, so it is very symbolic that a part of ARARAT will contribute to preserving our unique heritage,” said Sergey Khachatryan, Executive Director of the Yerevan Brandy Factory.
