
Vahe Torosyan, Deputy Director of Scientific Affairs at Matenadaran, Nazenie Garibian, Head of the Department of Medieval Art Studies, Lusine Sargsyan, Senior Researcher in the same department, and Ani Petoyan, Junior Researcher in the Department of Archival Studies, participated on May 14 and 15 in two international workshops organised by the Department of Asian and North African Studies at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, dedicated to Armenian Studies and Caucasian Studies, as well as to the study of Armenian and Eastern Christian art (an initiative conceived by Aldo Ferrari, Professor of Armenian and Caucasian Studies at the Department of Asian and North African Studies).
Vahe Torosyan and Ani Petoyan delivered a paper entitled “Between the Byzantine Empire and the Crusader States: The Coronation Rite of the Armenian Kings of Cilicia.” At the same time, Nazenie Garibian and Lusine Sargsyan presented papers titled “The Burial Place of Armenian Queens: Preliminary Observations” and “Between Sacred Images and Everyday Life: Representations of Women in Armenian Manuscript Illumination,” respectively. The papers by Nazenie Garibian and Lusine Sargsyan were presented within the framework of research conducted under the grant programme “Armenian Women According to Medieval Sources and Images” (25RG‐6E029), funded by the Committee of Higher Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia.
