Hasmik Kirakosyan, the Senior Researcher of Matenadaran, has published her new book, “The Manuscripts of Armeno-Persian Gospel of the Matenadaran”. The book analyzes the Gospel’s codices MS 8492 (Shamakhi-Tiflis, 1717-1721) and MS 3044 (Gandzak, 1780) translated into Persian using Armenian letters. These manuscripts are held at the Matenadaran, the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, Yerevan.
The book consists of two main parts. In the first part, the discussion focuses on the historic-cultural and ethnic-religious environments and reasons behind the creation of MS 8492 and MS 3044 manuscripts. The second part explores the orthographic rules and the Persian language’s uniqueness written with Armenian characters.
This book is the first study of the Persian religious #manuscript/s written in the Armenian script.
