THE INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF ARMENIAN STUDIES TOOK PLACE AT THE MESROP MASHTOTS MATENADARAN

From July 9 to 12 of this year, the International Congress of Armenian Studies took place at the Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran, with support from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the Committee on Higher Education and Science within that ministry.

The event featured welcoming speeches from several key figures, including Ara Khzmalyan, Director of Matenadaran; Zhanna Andreasyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports; Sargis Hayotsyan, Chairman of the Committee on Higher Education and Science; and Valentina Caltsolari, President of the Humanities and Social Sciences Association. During his speech, A. Khzmalyan also highlighted the progress made in implementing the provisions of the Matenadaran Development Program and discussed the infrastructure improvements achieved throughout the year.

The International Congress attracted around forty scientists from leading international institutions, along with representatives from spiritual centres and scriptoria. Notably, the participation of young scholars has increased, which is one of the main objectives of the Congress: to promote the continuity of international Armenian studies.
